Fabiano Negri spills his classic Heavy Metal on live album
The Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and owner of one of the most beautiful voices of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock in the country, Sao Paulo based singer FABIANO NEGRI, released on March 11th the first live album of his career as a solo musician entitled “Between Playing andCursing…Live”.
After the excellent last studio album, “ZebathY” (2022), conquered expressive numbers of auditions on streaming platforms in Brazil and also abroad, his first solo incursion in a conceptual album totally dedicated and focused on classic Heavy Metal, awakened in Fabiano Negri the need that every self-respecting musician has: to play live.
“My initial idea with this album was to seek the sound of the early days of Heavy Metal, with clear influences from Black Sabbath, my favorite band. Playing such great materiallive was an artistic necessity and a personal achievement for me”, explained Fabiano. Without stepping on stage to continue with his solo career since 2015, the musician put together a new band, bringing family, students and close friends into this new venture, resulting in a brilliant chemistry and vibe in all aspects.
This result could not be otherwise, and “Between Playing and Cursing… Live”, was recorded by Bruno Pontes, on November 26th, 2022, at Clube da Música, in Campinas/SP, mixed and mastered by Ric Parma at Sonic Paw Studios, shows a tightand competent band of 8 musicians formed by Fabiano Negri (vocals), Ric Parma and Róbson Brocco (guitars), Ian ‘Absurd’ (bass and Fabiano’s son), Tomás Mainieri (drums), Pedro Sampietri (keyboards), Nara Leão (backing vocals and Fabiano’s wife) and Nia Sabiano (backing vocals).“
I have a lot of solo material that I have never played live, so I focused more on the last three studio albums, the more hard rock ones “The Fool’s Path” (2020) and “Reborn”(2021), and especially the most recent “ZebathY” with 5 tracks. Even so, I tried to put atl east one song from all my solo albuns, which are not few (laughs)”, commented Fabiano.
Following a defined career line, there are no songs from Fabiano’s previous bands (Rei Lagarto, Dusty Old Fingers and Unsuspected Soul Band), focusing only on the solo material.
Fabiano Negri is proud that “Between Playing and Cursing…Live” does not containany kind of ‘overdub’, showing exactly how a live performance should be. “The bandsounded brilliant and full of energy. All hits and small mistakes appear the way they wereperformed on the day, because we have no make up on the recording, sounding all very human, dynamic, accurate and, mainly, true in its essence”, says Fabiano.
“Everything could have gone wrong, because it would only be one night of recording and we couldn’t make any mistakes, or someone could get sick at the last minute, but the stars aligned and everything conspired for a great night with tickets sold out, the public singing all our songs in a memorable night. I’m glad everything worked out and was recorded”, he concludes.
“Between Playing and Cursing…Live” will not be released in physical format, but it’s now available in full form (14 songs and 14 videos) just for sale through the singer’s official website at www.fabianonegri.com and reduced to streaming platforms in two options:\
