STAB unleashes visceral tribute to thrash legend Toxic Holocaust!
Taking advantage of the confirmation of the Latin American tour of legendary American thrash metal band TOXIC HOLOCAUST, led by multi-instrumentalist Joel Grind, for October this year, the brazilian crossover band STAB, who resumed their activities after two years away due to the pandemic, released as a single a brutal and visceral cover for the song “War Is Hell”. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Casarao Music Studio, in Piracicaba/Sao Paulo, by Franco Torrezan.
“Murillo and I have known each other since we were kids and he was the one who introduced me to Metal. Our influences are very similar and Toxic Holocaust was always present in the beginning of our careers as fans and musicians. We had some of their songs as inspiration triggers to create our own material, so it’s only fair that we pay a tribute to this important band for the growth of Stab! This cover is the first material we produced after resuming our career after two years stopped because of the pandemic and we are betting not only in the audiovisual, but also in our recording process”, commented Joao Polizel (bassist).
“This new version is a tribute to the first metal band I ever heard, and it’s also the first band I learned to play a whole song on guitar from. They were the ones who inspired me to start a band and write my own songs. Since our first show, we always play “War Is Hell” as the penultimate song in the setlist, coming before the track that gives the band its name”, commented Murilo Ramos (vocals/guitar).
“For sure, since our early days, it is one of the most important bands that has always inspired Stab’s sound. When I met Murilo he was wearing a Toxic Holocaust t-shirt and, once again, metal bringing people together, it was thanks to this that we started talking, playing some covers, etc. War Is Hell” itself was one of these and we have been playing this song for so long that we practically consider it to be part of our setlist. This song defines very well the sound we want to make: Fast, brutal and direct”, commented Leonardo Veronez (drums).
Formed in 2017, in the city of Piracicaba, Sao Paulo/Brazil, STAB has a proposal to unite the weight, aggression and speed typically Thrash Metal to darker sounds, defining itself as a mix of Thrash Metal crossover with strong references – and direct influences – of Punk Rock, Death Metal, Black Metal and even Doom Metal. The band is noted for composing authorial material in English that addresses behavioral issues, criticisms of society, and random thoughts. After the release of “War Is Hell”, the band plans to release a new EP containing 4 unreleased tracks, even more aggressive, direct, with well worked solos and mainly bringing the usual brutal theme.
