Sergio Ponti

Born in 1980, I started playing drums at age 12, first as self-taught, and later as a student at Furio Chirico’s drum school.
As the drummer of Beggar’s Farm (2004-present), I played with Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Dave Pegg, Jonathan Noyce, Clive Bunker and many others members of Jethro Tull; with David Jackson of Van Der Graaf Generator; Bernardo Lanzetti of PFM; Vittorio Nocenzi, Rodolfo Maltese and the great, late, Francesco Di Giacomo of Banco; Gianni Leone of Il Balletto di Bronzo, and many others. I also played two tours with Mike Keneally, incredible singer/songwriter who’s maybe better know as a member of Zappa’s, Steve Vai’s, Joe Satriani’s and Dethlok touring bands.
I am quite active on the international blues music scene, touring a lot nationally and internationally, as well as touring and recording with nationally renown folk/rock band Egin.
I have been the touring drummer for avantgarde metal/jazzers Ephel Duath in 2006 and 2007, through which I met the members of Dordeduh and Sunset in the 12th House, other two acts with whom I recorded and toured internationally from 2009 to 2015, including playing Wacken Open Air, Hellfest and Rockstadt Extreme festivals.
I have led my own band, Koneskin, with whom we released the EP “Liberty Place”.
I am a very active drum teacher in the following music schools: Fondazione Fossano Musica; Scuola Civica Orff Piossasco; PepperMusic and privately in my own studio. In total, I teach around 35/40 students a week.
I work as transcriber/copist for the new Thomas Lang’s Drum Universe educational website and my transcriptions have appeared through the years in various websites and publications. I am also one of the official Drumeo transcribers.
I am an endorser for Promark drumsticks, Evans Drumheads and Paiste cymbals.
Drumming has led me to see places and experience life in ways that I never thought were possible, and I plan to keep on doing it professionally for many years until, maybe, I become good enough to be a professional football goalkeeper, my other life-long passion.
